06 May 2018

The state of São Paulo marked Unimed’s 50th anniversary with a formal session at its Legislative Assembly. A group of medical cooperatives, Unimed has over 380 local member cooperatives operating in over 80% of Brazil's counties.

Unimed President Orestes Pullin recalled how the first Unimed cooperative had been founded in São Paolo in 1967 «by a group of physicians with a desire to oppose the mercantilism threatening the responsible and ethical practice of medicine in our country».
