The ICA acquired a new member in August: the Union des Mutuelles Financieres de Developpement (MUFID UNION) from Cameroon, who joined as an Associate Member.
MUFID UNION represents financial cooperatives, known as financial mutuals for development (MUFIDs). The Union acts as an apex for the MUFID network, helping its members grow, ensuring they follow standards, and providing accounting services to them. It has 94 member societies representing 293,099 individual members.
It has joined the ICA because it would like to become part of the organisation that represents the global cooperative movement and be inspired by its members. MUFID UNION also intends to join the International Cooperative Banking Association, a sectoral organisation of the ICA. Its ultimate aim is to further develop the cooperative movement in Cameroon using the ICA Strategic Plan.
The ICA has now 306 member organisations of which 269 are Full Members and 37 are Associate Members from 105 countries.
