As part of the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives, the journal Cooperativismo y Desarrollo invites researchers, practitioners, and cooperative actors to submit articles for a special issue focused on the role of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in the twin transitions: ecological and digital. This call seeks to spotlight how cooperatives and SSE organizations are not only adapting to change but actively shaping just, inclusive, and sustainable futures through innovative models of production, consumption, and governance.
Cooperatives are at the heart of local resilience and global transformation, advancing energy communities, agroecology, circular economies, and digital platforms that prioritize transparency, democracy, and community wellbeing. This special issue offers space to share critical reflections, research findings, and grassroots experiences that address the challenges and opportunities of these transitions, including issues such as greenwashing, digital divides, and the commodification of sustainability.
Submissions are welcomed until 23 September 2025, with publication set for 26 December 2025. Contributors may submit research articles, reflections, reviews, or essays.
