The UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC2025) was a year to celebrate, communicate and educate about cooperatives, and culminated in the United Nations announcement that an IYC will be celebrated every 10 years.
The theme for the year was Cooperatives Build a Better World, which celebrated the vital role of cooperatives in nurturing a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable society. Now the ICA is undertaking an Impact Assessment Survey to record its impact and legacy, and help to prepare future priorities.
Throughout the year, IYC2025 sought to:
- Increase public awareness of cooperatives and their contributions to sustainable development;
- Promote cooperative growth and development;
- Advocate for supportive policy and institutional frameworks;
- Inspire future generations of cooperative leaders and members.
“We now invite cooperators worldwide to share your experiences and reflections,” said ICA Director General, Jeroen Douglas.
“Your feedback will help us assess the impact of the International Year and identify some of the key lessons that you, your sectors, regions and communities learned over the 12 months. The responses to the survey will also assist in shaping priorities for the cooperative movement leading up to the next UN International Year of Cooperatives in 2035.”
The survey takes approximately 10 minutes, with results also feeding into the IYC2025 Impact Report, to be published later this year.
Please do share the link with your wider cooperative networks. The survey will be open until 30 July.
